Your generosity allows us to organise and purchase fresh flowers, candles, butter lamps, incense, food or fruit items, water bowls and to prepare Torma or Tsog offerings for the Medicine Buddha Centre alter.
Offering sponsorships can be made in someone’s name, accompanied with a prayer request dedicated to a loved one, for a special event, or anything that resonates strongly in your heart.
Flower Offering - The flowers on the altar represent impermanence and are one of the most beautiful and yet one of the most transient forms of nature. They are a supreme source of joy in this world.
Incense Offering - By burning incense we cleanse the space around us, it represents the purification within the Mandala of our mind to shift negative emotions like greed, anger, and ignorance before we commence our practice. It fortifies our moral discipline to attain pure concentration.
Light Offering - When we light a candle we may liken it to illuminating the darkness of our ignorance that allows our wisdom to shine brightly
Perfume / Scented Water: Perfume (or scented water) often represents the "fragrance of pure ethical conduct'. Just as we can detect a pleasant scent from afar, so too, does the energy of the virtuous person spread in all directions. Water represents pure consciousness, adding scent transforms it into an "extraordinary" offering, representing the transformation of the ordinary mind into the awakened state. ( eg.- saffron water )
Fruit / Food Offering - When we offer fruit or food on the alter, we may cultivate the qualities of generosity, gratitude, and the pursuit of enlightenment. Just as food sustains the body, the Dharma sustains the mind. Offerings symbolize nurturing one's spiritual journey.
Water Bowl Offering - Traditionally, seven or eight bowls are arranged in a straight line, It represents all of the outer offerings in a sophisticated, purified, and joyful offering to the minds of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
Thank you for your kind support, any meritorious gesture of generosity creates a karmic link between yourself and the virtuous activities it allows.
