About the Event

Dear Dharma Friends,

Welcome back to the Wednesday night meditation class. I’m looking forward to seeing you all in this new Wednesday series, suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners.

Classes will be held Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm, starting 12 November 2025.

The plan for the class is roughly as follows:

1. Calm Abiding Meditation (30 minutes)

The first half hour will be dedicated to studying and practising calm abiding meditation. These sessions will offer a gradual introduction to the key principles of calm abiding, with practical, experience-based guidance on posture, breathing, focusing on a chosen object of meditation, and maintaining a balanced and peaceful state of mind.

2. Compassion Practice (30 minutes)

The second half hour will include a short Compassion Buddha practice followed by a meditation on cultivating the essential elements of great compassion — equanimity, recognising our connection with all sentient beings, recollecting their kindness, developing the wish to repay that kindness, learning how to do so, special recognition, enlightened aspiration, and exchanging oneself with others.

3. Transforming Negative Emotions (1 hour)

In the final hour each week, we’ll explore how to purify and transform negative emotions. This will include discussions on essential teachings — particularly the law of karma and the nature of mind — and how to apply these teachings to everyday life situations.

Date: Wednesday evenings

Venue: 132 Kars St, Frankston South 3199

Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm

Contribution: $30 per person per class, or $270 for a 10-class pass.
