About the Event
What is tantra? Who is qualified to practice it? How should it be practiced? What are the results?
Join Lama Tendar for a day of teaching and reflection on the topic of Introduction to Tantric Practice, a central component in Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhist traditions.
Tantrayana, also known as Vajrayana (Diamond Vehicle), is a branch of Mahayana Buddhism emphasizing tantric practices as a path for rapid enlightenment. Working with the mind, body and energy in sophisticated meditation, visualization and rituals to directly realise Buddha-nature.
Prior to practicing tantra we should be familiar with the teachings on the three principal paths as outlined by Lama Tsongkhapa – Renunciation, Bodhicitta and the Wisdom perceiving emptiness ( Shunyata )
Renunciation provides the motivation to leave the cycle of suffering.
Bodhicitta gives the compassionate purpose and direction for the path.
Wisdom of emptiness ( Shunyata ) cuts through delusion, preventing clinging and realising the true nature of reality, allowing the first two to be effective.
